Cholera Relief

In keeping with MOH’s mission to bring life transformation to every man, woman and child in Haiti, we have been working hard in response to the Cholera outbreak in this country.

Cholera is an acute intestinal infection which is primarily transmitted through contaminated drinking water or food.  Mission of Hope's biggest focus during the outbreak of this disease has been in community health education. MOH has educated over 7,000 people in 9 different villages thus far in what the disease is, how it is spread, how to protect themselves, and what to do if they get cholera. Teaching people how to protect themselves and how to manage the disease through proper sanitation, hygiene, and rehydration is having a great impact on the health of individuals in this area of Haiti.

In addition to continuing our primary care center, urgent care program and prosthetics program at our onsite clinic, we are also actively working in established cholera clinics in our area. Medical personnel are needed to help with this effort. If you are a medical professional who would like to volunteer to help Mission of Hope, please contact us.
